Preparation of the ingredients

Cut the tempeh in tiny pieces. The garlic and union can be a bit chunky. We’re cutting the tempeh in tiny pieces because after frying it will give a bit of a crunchy crisp texture to the dish.

If you want it a little bit spicy you can add some chili. If you are in the mood for something more spicier, you can use the chili sauce recipe. This will certainly give your Indonesian Fried Rice a special wow factor.

Everything fried in one big wok

We’ll be using one big wok. If you don’t have something like that make sure you got a pan where at least everything fits. There is a lot of stirring involved, if the pan is to small, you might spill a lot of the ingredients.

Order of frying is Tempeh first. Make it gold brown. stir it will so everything is well fried. Set it aside in the wok to make space for the next ingredient. A the union, garlic and chili. Fry it without moving the tempeh too much. This can be stirred into the mixture when the onion and garlic are fried. This prevents the tempeh from getting burned or overcooked.

Fried ingredients for Nasi Goreng

It already looks very delicious and we’re about 3 minutes in. It’s time to add the rice, salt and mushroom powder. Of course do not forget to stir. Add soy sauce for more colour and taste.
